U-15 team of "Vatan" Republican Specialized Children-Youth Olympics Reserve Football School participated in the XV traditional international football tournament in Stavropol, Russia.

Participating in the tournament with a staff of 19 people, "Vatan" faced with competitors, representing various cities of Russia including Stavropol, Makhachkala and Rostov, within a week. Our athletes, playing with a lot of confidence in the first round of the tournament, easily passed through the group stage. "Vatan" secured its place in the final after defeating “UOR Stavropol” team in penalty shootout at the semi-final stage. Our football players, losing the game with "Duss Stavropol" in the final, finished the tournament with the silver medal. The team was awarded for the individual achievements. Coach-teacher Ramiz Aliyev was awarded with the title of "the best coach of the tournament" and team member Sultan Mustafayev was awarded with the title of "the best midfielder of the tournament". The memorable gifts, sportswear and balls were presented to team by the tournament organizers.

On April 14, the final stage of the Schoolchildren Chess Festival, dedicated to the 92nd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev, was launched.

Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Education Minister, school principals and representatives of the sports community attended the ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Education at secondary school no. 12 in Baku. The main purpose of the festival is to strengthen the tendency and interest in chess among secondary school students, to increase the popularity of this sport, playing an important role in development of the cultural level, and to promote the essence of the first European Games, which will be held in Baku in June, among schoolchildren. Speaking at the ceremony, Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Education Minister, spoke about the work carried out within the framework of the "State Program on development of chess in Azerbaijan in 2009-2014", approved by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev. Firudin Gurbanov noted that now tens of thousands of school students study the mysteries of this intellectual game at 66 children-youth chess schools, subordinated to the Ministry of Education. Last year the students of children's and youth chess schools won 242 medals in republican competitions and 90 medals in international competitions. 15 of 22 international grand masters about the country, 7 of 14 masters of sport of the international category, 79 out of 100 Azerbaijani chess players included in the international and world rankings, are graduates of the chess schools which are directly functioning in an education system. The deputy minister also mentioned that chess was included in the curriculum of secondary schools, according to the joint memorandum signed by the Ministry of Education, the World Chess Federation and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. Now in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes, more than 500 secondary schools are teaching chess lessons. It should be noted that the first stage of the competition was conducted among the pilot secondary schools, taught chess as a subject, and there were established the combined teams consisting of winner-students of district (city). More than 3 thousand students from 494 pilot schools, taught chess as a subject, participated in the competitions. About 400 students will compete for the title of champion in the final race. The trophies, diplomas and valuable prizes will be awarded to the teams, took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in Age Group and in a team score, and distinguished players will be awarded with the diploma by the Ministry of Education.

The presentations of "SABAH volunteer" program was held in 7 higher education institutions in Baku.

Hundreds of students, studying in SABAH groups of Baku State University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan University of Languages, attended presentations. During the presentations, the participants were informed about the "SABAH volunteer" program, its objectives and areas of activities by the volunteers, studying in SABAH groups. Volunteers noted that "SABAH volunteer" program, carried out with the participation of students of SABAH groups of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic plays a significant role in increasing the social activity and applying knowledge to practice, as well as developing management skills and leadership potential of students without leaving the academic training. The students (in the form of teams), acting as "SABAH volunteer", participate in the organization of projects, programs and events, and carry out various campaigns. Thus, they apply the knowledge and skills gained by them in teaching process and get the opportunity to acquire professional skills during the period of the studentship. During the presentations, the volunteers expressed their opinions about upcoming Baku 2015 First European Games. It was noted that the campaigns, related to the European Games, were expected to be implemented in 7 higher education institutions within the framework of "SABAH volunteer" program. The participants invited the students to join the Baku 2015 First European Games as a volunteer. Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Azerbaijan Technical University, Humay Javadzadeh (SABAH volunteer) noted that the first European Games is a significant event in our country: "We will make history with the organization of the Baku 2015 First European Games. Of course, every young person, every student would want to be a part of this great event. Acting as "SABAH volunteer" will allow us to support the European Games and to achieve success". Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Azerbaijan University of Languages, Aygun Bayramova (SABAH volunteer) said that she is proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the first European Games: "Volunteering is a choice, but it is proud to be a part of the first European Games as "SABAH volunteer". It should also be noted that SABAH groups have been organized from Educated, Skilled and Trained students studying at higher education institutions under the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic in order to improve the quality of education in higher education, to ensure personnel training in accordance with modern requirements and to create the new environment in the higher education system. Currently, SABAH groups cover 755 students in 34 specialties in 7 higher education institutions (Baku State University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan University of Languages).  

Statement by the Ministry of Education about the companies providing educational services abroad

Some citizens, who use the services of the education companies abroad, regularly apply to the Ministry of Education for difficulties and negative cases, faced by them. Unfortunately, such complaints intensify especially during the summer months, during the contest for education abroad within the framework of  the “State Program on education of Azerbaijani youth abroad for the years of 2007-2015”. In this regard, we would like to mention that The Ministry of Education does not cooperate with any company in connection with education abroad and the State Program, and assumes no responsibility for the activities of these companies. We would like once again to say to citizens that the promises, made by any company or person to the applicants, play no role during the selection for the State Program. At the same time, the documents submitted to the Ministry of Education through such companies don`t have any special advantage during the selection. Citizens are asked to inform Call Center of the Ministry of Education ("hotline" service: 146 - 1) about such promises. Furthermore, it should be mentioned that filling out an electronic application during the contest and submitting the documents are completely free and any fund is not required for the process of receiving the documents. The Ministry of Education continues working on simplifying the process of receiving the documents for the State Program and recommends the students, wishing to participate in the State Program, to apply directly to the Ministry of Education.

The training courses were started within the framework of “Təməl” Scholarship Program, which is a joint project of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, Baku Skill Improvement and Retraining Institute of Pedagogical Cadres, UNICEF and "İnkişaf" Republican Scientific and Practical Center.

The main purpose of the skill improvement course, prepared in a new form and content, is to raise the level of professionalism of a group of primary school teachers of the schools operating in Baku. 105 people were selected from among persons interested in participating in the scholarship program and about 20 specialists were involved in carrying out theoretical and practical trainings. Teachers will participate in lectures, practical classes and master classes on such topics as philosophy and mission of primary education, modern pedagogical and psychological approaches, methodology and didactics, classroom management, personal development, time management, planning, digital literacy and will become acquainted with learning environment of advanced schools during the training course, which will last one and a half month. The classrooms of participants, successfully completed the program, will be equipped with ICT equipment.

Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, signed a decree on "the organization and implementation of Examination session".

According to the order, it was decided to commence The Spring Semester 2015 Examination Session on 11 May 2015 and to end on 31 May 2015 in higher education institutions located in the capital in connection with the First European Games in Baku in 2015.   The Order of Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Republic on "the organization and implementation of Examination session".

The event was held in connection with International Ecological Knowledge Day - April 15.

3rd and 4th grade students of the school-lyceum number 6 named after Tofig Ismailov and 7th and 8th grade students of Classic Gymnasium number 160, school principals, teachers and students of higher education institutions attended the event. The event, organized at the initiative of the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education and in cooperation with “National Geographic Azerbaijan” magazine, was conducted within the framework of the environmental-geographical awareness program for students. Firuza Sultanzade, director of Ecological Training and Experience Center, informed about the environmental education programs. Konul Nasibova, editor of "National Geographic Kids" magazine, delivered a presentation in the event. The ecological awareness competitions and quizzes related to the environment caused a great interest of students. The students of the school-lyceum number 6 presented their pictures about "Where I would like to travel with "National Geographic Kids" magazine". Then, the animated cartoons of "Animal Planet" were shown for students. At the end of the event, the coupon for a free one-year subscription to “National Geographic Azerbaijan” magazine was presented to 8 winners of the ecological competitions. "National Geographic Kids" magazine was presented to all students who took part in the event.

The delegation headed by Jeyhun Bayramov, the Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, attended the second Moscow International Salon of Education.

On April 15, the delegation attended the opening ceremony, held with the participation of Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. After the opening ceremony, the first plenary session was held under the chairmanship of Veniamin Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, devoted to "the new education architecture". Deputy Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov was invited to participate as a guest of honor in the plenary session. Introducing J.Bayramov to the participants of the plenary session, V.Kaganov said that the achievements of Azerbaijan and its reforms in education sphere made a great impression on him during a recent visit to Azerbaijan. In his speech, J.Bayramov praised the activity of the Russian side in the organization of the Salon of Education. He noted that the Salon of Education is a more favorable forum for fruitful discussions and exchange of views. Emphasizing that many challenges are similar in the field of education in most countries, the education falls outside the previous boundaries and the relationships between education and science, the economy and the social sphere are expanding and strengthening, Deputy Minister underlined the importance of defining new approaches for greater efficiency. J.Bayramov talked about the importance of studying the experience of Russia in the field of educational reform, taking into account the existence of similar problems and the need to increase efficiency. On the first day of the Salon of Education, the Azerbaijani delegation got acquainted with the exhibition of educational services within the Salon and held discussions with a number of educational institutions and business organizations on issues of mutual interest.

On April 16, the event dedicated to the model project of modern education technology on TOPs-Physical education, was held at the full secondary school no. 269 in Baku. This project is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, Bakcell company, the British Council and “Sport for development” Public Union.

It was noted that the main objective of the project is to provide educators with the modern education technology on physical education in schools of general education. At the same time, the application of this method will enable to create a favorable environment, ensuring the development of pupils’ movement skills and to achieve the application of educational technologies, focusing on the protection of pupils` physical and psychological health during the study period. It should be noted that this project is carried out as a pilot project at the secondary schools no. 138, 269, and 220 in Baku. Within the framework of the project, 25 physical education teachers, selected from target schools in Baku, were involved in the five-day training on TOPs program, having the modern and innovative learning method, by international and local specialists. More than 100 students participated in the first sports festival, held at secondary school No. 269. They competed in various sports and performed songs and dance numbers for the guests of the festival. Then, “Open lessons”, taught by Victoria Garayeva, Jafar Huseynov, Sanan Osmanli, Galina Deryabina and Azer Akberov (physical education teachers) in 5th, 6th, 8th and 10th classes, were observed.

On April 17, the exhibition and the presentation ceremony of the research projects were held at Lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

The representatives of the Ministry of Education, SOCAR, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, "Young engineers" public union and the chiefs of the companies attended the event. The main purpose of the event is to familiarize the community with the activity of "Small academy" and to explore the partnership opportunities with a number of organizations within the framework of the projects. The projects, prepared in various categories by the members of "Small academy", operating under the lyceum, were demonstrated at the exhibition. After the exhibition, students performed with a small concert program, prepared for the guests.
