SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
On April 15, the awarding ceremony of winners of the Fourth International Festival-Competition of young performers (under 20) of classical music among the countries of the Islamic World was held at the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan.
The festival, which is considered the project of “Kainat” Youth Center, is organized with the support of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and by Baku Music Academy. This year's competition was organized within the framework of the 130th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibayli. The competition was attended by 52 young performers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Egypt, the Russian Federation (Bashkortostan), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Indonesia. In his speech, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister of Azerbaijan Intiqam Babayev spoke about the government support for the comprehensive development of the young generation in our country and the significance of the traditional festival-competition: "In recent years, thanks to the great support of the country's leadership, Azerbaijan hosts the international festivals, competitions and forums. The international festival of young performers of classical music among the countries of the Islamic World serves to strengthen cultural relations between Muslim countries ". Rahib Rasulzadeh, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Director of "Kainat" Youth Center, noted that the scope of the project is expanding from year to year. It was noted that international competition is held in two age groups (under the age of 15 and between the ages of 15-20). One of the conditions for participants is to perform works by Azerbaijani composers. Then the winners were determined by the jury, represented by one person from each participating country. The 1st place was awarded to Natalia Lem (Uzbekistan), the 2nd place was awarded to Fidan Tagiyeva (Azerbaijan) and the 3rd place was awarded to Timur Mirahmedov (Uzbekistan) in the piano performance category in group under 15. Amonbek Rixsinboyev (Uzbekistan), Shamil Salimov (Azerbaijan) and Asadbek Xalimcanov (Uzbekistan), won 1-3 places respectively in the orchestral performance category. Gunel Rizvanova, Javid Azizov and Arzu Asgarli (all of them are from Azerbaijan) were awarded the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively in the piano performance category in older age groups. Suleyman Eyyubov (Azerbaijan), Samat Meditov (Bashkortostan) and Alpamis Bissenqaliyev (Kazakhstan) took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively in the orchestral performance category. For his virtuoso performance, Mehman Salimov (Azerbaijan) was awarded the special diploma and gifts, established by Baku Music Academy. In accordance with the rules of the festival, the diplomas and prizes were presented to Mahigul Nizomova (10 years old) from Uzbekistan on the nomination "The youngest performer". The main prize of the festival (Grand Prix) was presented to Melissa Buyukoru, the student of Ankara State Conservatory (Turkey). As well as, the participants of the competition were awarded prizes of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The event ended with a concert program of winners of the Fourth International Festival-Competition.

On April 16, the delegation headed by Jeyhun Bayramov, the Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a series of meetings within the framework of the visit to Moscow.
Firstly, the delegation visited the secondary school with an ethno-cultural Azerbaijani educational component No. 157 named after K.Karimov. Providing information about the history and current activities of the educational institution, E.Ismayilova, the school principal, noted that the pupils, studying at the school, represent nearly 30 ethnic groups. Then the delegation got acquainted with the museum and library of the school, visited several classrooms during the lessons and met with students and teachers. Students read poems and sang songs in Azerbaijani language and performed traditional dances. J. Bayramov expressed his gratitude to the school principal, teachers and students. He also highly appreciated the activities and achievements of the educational institution in the field of teaching of Russian and Azerbaijani languages and in the field of preservation of Azerbaijani culture. The memorial gifts were presented to the school on behalf of the Azerbaijani delegation. On the same day, the delegation held a working meeting at Russia's Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency. During the meeting, the reforms, carried out in the field of the standards of educational institutions in both countries, and a number of other issues of mutual interest were discussed. The sides emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation at the working level. On April 17, the delegation held a joint meeting with V. Kaganov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and L.Efremova, Deputy Director of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation. The sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and discussed the directions for the development of mutual relations in student exchange, teacher training and other fields. Then, Adalat Muradov, rector of Azerbaijan State Economic University, and Y.Kuzminov, rector of the National Research University - Higher School of Economics, signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Fields of Culture, Education and Science between the two universities. This document provides long-term cooperation in the realization of student exchange program with the Higher School of Economics - one of the prestigious universities of Russia, in the development of dual diploma programs, in the implementation of joint research projects and internship programs for teachers and students, and in other fields.

The students of Lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, Nigar Sardarli and Madat Sardarli, awarded the first place in “Scientists of tomorrow” IV Republic contest, gained the right to participate in the Science and Engineering Fair, held in the United States in May.
Leyla Alakbarli and Vusala Suleymanova, 10th grade students of the lyceum, were invited to the final stage of INESPO Olympiad that would be held in the Netherlands and to the final stage of "GOLDEN Climate" Olympiad that would be held in Kenya for their project on "the ecological model of the greening of big cities".

The fourth International exhibition of technologies for education and professional training “Worlddidac Astana” was held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
In the event, our country was represented by Bela Nuriyeva, primary school teacher of secondary school No. 23 named after T. Hasanov of Baku. Products and new technologies related to education were introduced by 206 companies from 28 countries in the exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan. Bela Nuriyeva, the winner of the contest "Best teacher", demonstrated "Open lesson" (master-class) in the exhibition.

On April 18, the opening ceremony of the final stage of the Republican subject Olympiads was held.
The final stage of subject Olympiads, aimed at increasing pupils` interest in different subjects and identifying young talents, was attended by 480 students from 58 different cities (the district) of Azerbaijan. Several novelties were applied in the process of conducting subject Olympiads this year. The event will be held within 3 days and in order to motivate the participants for knowledge competition, they will stay at the hotel Kempinski Badamdar and all conditions will be created for the effective organization of leisure during this period. Geography was included in the list of Olympiad subjects this year. Unlike previous years, Olympiad questions were not applied openly, but were presented in the form of test at the initial stage in order to ensure transparency and fair evaluation. This year, for the first time, Subject Olympiads are held in three stages. The first - regional stage of the Olympiad was attended by 22000 pupils on eight subjects. The semi-final stage, organized for the first time from this year with the participation of 3700 pupils, was held in 11 centers located in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Shirvan, Sheki, Mingachevir, Lankaran, Shamakhi, Aghdash, Khachmaz and Nakhchivan. Then the finalists were determined. About 240 out of all students, participating in the final stage, will be among the winners. In addition, for the first time, the champion will be determined on the nomination "The winner of the winners" among the participants in each subject and candidate students will be selected to take part in international Olympiads in any subject. Olympiads play exceptional role in revealing talented children and youth. Taking into consideration this fact, the Republican subject Olympiads are held on the basis of the principles of transparency and openness.

On April 19, the final stage of the Republican subject Olympiads began.
450 pupils, representing all regions of the country, solve open-ended questions in different rooms allocated for the subjects such as biology, geography, mathematics, physics, Azerbaijani language and literature, history, chemistry and information science. In order to ensure transparency, the pupils` answer sheets will be encoded and delivered to the jury. The results will be announced after the appropriate checking and will be placed on the official website (www.edu.gov.az) and "Facebook" page (https://www.facebook.com/tehsil.gov.az) of the Ministry of Education. On April 20, during the first half of the day, students, dissatisfied with the results, will have an opportunity to discuss the results with the jury. It should be noted that this year, the implementation of subject Olympiads is accompanied by a number of innovations. The exhibition of Circle members with disabilities of Child-Youth Creative Center of Nizami district of The Ministry of Education was organized at "Absheron" Art Gallery.
The works of Narmin Humbatzade, Lala Hasanova, Nigar Mammadova, Ali Isgandarli, Vusal Salmanli and Nihad Valiev were demonstrated in the exhibition entitled "With the language of colors". The main purpose of the three-day exhibition is to identify talented children with special needs and to develop their potential. Agali Ibrahimov, Deputy Chairman of the Artists' Union, Lala Gati, director of Creative Center, Eldaniz Ibrahimov, director of "Absheron" Art Gallery, Nevai Metin, representative of International Union of Activist Artists to Azerbaijan, as well as, teachers and parents attended the opening ceremony. About 60 paintings - compositions made in national and modern style, portraits, nature paintings, decorative compositions of students of Narmin Abdullayeva, the head of “Rəsm” studio, were demonstrated in the exhibition. Art works were prepared in the genres like painting and graphics. It should be noted that these children with special needs participated in Children's Painting Competitions and Exhibitions at a regional, national, and international scale and were awarded certificates and diplomas.

The Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education launches a new training program.
The new program that will be implemented within the framework of “Museum and education programs” project of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO is dedicated to International Museum Day - May 18. The main objective of "Museum Week for schoolchildren - Museums and Ecology" program that will be carried out at the joint initiative of the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center and the Republican Center for Tourism and Ethnography is to enlighten pupils about the history, ethnographic and cultural exposition of museums, operating in Baku. Gathering information about exhibits, artifacts, creative work related to the project topic, the special interactive methodical - educational routes will be determined and the museum programs will be organized. At the same time, schoolchildren will become familiar with the ecological and ethnographic aspects of the collection fund of the country's leading museums. Also, pupils will be informed about the concept of sustainable development of human, environment and society. It should be noted that every year the International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18. The year 2015 was declared the year of "Museums and sustainable development of society" by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

The awarding ceremony of winners of the Schoolchildren Chess Festival, dedicated to the 92nd anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev, was organized by the Ministry of Education.
The trophies, diplomas and valuable prizes were presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in individual and team scores between boys and girls on 4 age groups by the Ministry of Education. Teams of Sumgait city, Udjar district and Mingachevir city took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively. It should be noted that the first stage of the competition was conducted among the pilot secondary schools, taught chess as a subject, and there were established the combined teams consisting of winner-students of district (city). More than 3 thousand students from 494 pilot schools, taught chess as a subject, participated in the competitions. About 400 students competed for the title of champion in the final race.
