SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering and Environment) Project Olympiad was held in Houston with the participation of nearly 70 countries and 48 states of America from May 7 to 10.

The scientific project on "The absorption, movement and collection of nanoparticles in plants: nanofitotoxicology" of Farrukh Rahmatzade, Ayan Hajibeyli and Fuad Abdulzade, students of Baku European Lyceum, became a winner among 427 projects, presented on the topic "Environmental management and pollution", and was awarded a gold medal. It should be noted that this project was implemented with the participation of Olga Humbatova, biology teacher of Baku European Lyceum, and with the guidance and support of Mohammadali Ramazanov, professor of Nano Research laboratory of Nano Research laboratory of BSU, and Ismet Ahmadov, associate professor.

On May 19, the training-conference on “Media and educational dialogue: the development of professionalism" dedicated to the promotion of the Baku-2015 First European Games will be held at "Azerbaijan" University at the initiative of the Ministry of Education.

Employees of the Ministry of Education, heads of press services of media organizations and higher education institutions, NGO representatives on education, students of the Faculty of Journalism will attend the training-conference. It is intended to be heard presentations and to be held trainings on media and educational relations, the quality of education and mass media, the creation of professional skills in Public Relations (PR) at the conference. Participants will increase their knowledge and skills in holding information campaigns, writing press releases, social group work and other topics. Successful participants will be awarded certificates in the training-conference. It should be noted that this training-conference is the third conference held within the framework of "Media and educational dialogue" by the Ministry of Education.

They will represent us at the First European Games

  We continue to introduce the athletes, who will take part in the first European Games, from sports schools operating under the Ministry of Education.   24 of athletes, who will represent our country at the First European Games, are the graduates of children and youth sports schools operating under the Ministry of Education and the coach-teachers working in these schools. They will compete in 7 sports (athletics, acrobatic gymnastics, badminton, fencing, sambo, freestyle wrestling, table tennis).   Billura Eminova is the coach of Sumgait City Branch of “Tahsil” Republican Sports Center. B.Eminova, the two-time champion of Azerbaijan in table tennis and the bronze prize-winner of World Championship Division IV, graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. Ramil Jafarov is a graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Tennis Sports School no.7. R.Jafarov, engaged in table tennis, is the silver prize winner of Azerbaijan Cup and the gold prize winner of Azerbaijan Republic TOP-16 tournament. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. Rufat Guliyev is engaged in table tennis. R.Guliyev, the bronze prize winner of Azerbaijan Cup and the gold prize winner of Azerbaijan Republic TOP-16 tournament, is a graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Tennis Sports School no.7. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. Dursadaf Karimova is a graduate of the Specialized Olympic Reserves Child-Youth Sports School no.11 of Baku. D. Karimova, engaged in sambo, is the winner of the Grand-Prix tournament. She graduated from the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports.

A monthly allowance in the amount of 20 manat was determined to be paid to parents of pupils involved in education at home and other legal representatives in secondary schools in order to bring their children to healthcare and rehabilitation centers, as well as medical institutions.

According to the Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers No. 108 dated April 15, 2015, allowances will be calculated from February and payment of allowances will be made by the local education authorities.

Azerbaijani schoolchildren became the winners of the World Chess Championship.

Schoolchildren between the ages of 7-17 from 34 countries attended the championship held in Pattaya, Thailand. Azerbaijan was represented by the team of 12 chess players of "Tahsil" Republican Sports Center (RIC) in the competition. This team consists of the winners of the final round of the Republic Championship, held at the end of last year, in different age groups. According to the results of the competition, Leyla Budagova won 2 gold medals in the classical chess and blitz among girls under the age of 7 years, Shahriyar Iskandarov won a gold medal in the blitz among boys under the age of 15 years, Murad Ibrahimli won a gold medal in the blitz among boys under the age of 13 years. Thus, Azerbaijani schoolchildren won totally 4 gold medals and were awarded the 2th place in team score among 34 countries.

Students of the integration trained boarding school No.11 and the republican special boarding school No.4 for children with limited health condition and deprived of parental care successfully participated in "VII International Special Track and Field Games" sports competition.

Students of the integration trained boarding school No.11 Kamala Huseynova and Aleksandra Faxraddinova were awarded gold medals by taking 1st place in the running and the long jump respectively in the competition held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Students of the boarding school No.11 Filippenko Nadezhda won 2nd place in the long jump, Tamam Heydarova won 2nd place in the running and students of the republican special boarding school No.4 Parviz Mustafayev, Taleh Giyasov won 2nd place in the running and were awarded a silver medal, Fagan Aliyev took the third place in the running and was awarded a bronze medal. At the end of sports competition, Azerbaijani students and teaching staff accompanying them were awarded "Gratitude" by the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The students of general education institutions continue to visit the universities within the framework of the project "University libraries through the eyes of schoolchildren" of the Ministry of Education.

The next visit of the schoolchildren will be to Azerbaijan State Economic University and Western University on May 20 within the framework of this project. The main objective of the project is to ensure the formation of rich imaginations about the university libraries in students and to create favorable conditions for providing them with additional knowledge, as well as to allow schoolchildren to familiarize with the university libraries. 9th-11th grade students (only 8 students from each education institution), selected from Lyceum named after Heydar Aliyev, Educational complex No. 132 -134, Baku Turkish Diyanet Vakfi lyceum and Lyceum of Young Talents, got acquainted with the libraries of universities within the framework of the project. Pupils shared their impressions about the libraries of universities and conducted the evaluation on pre-defined criteria. It should be noted that students of general education institutions are expected to visit the libraries of 6 universities. At the end of the project, higher education institutions will be evaluated by students in terms of capabilities and reader satisfaction of libraries and necessary improving proposals will be made in this sphere. As well as, after getting acquainted with libraries of higher education institutions, students will be able to share information they have obtained on library science, information exchange, the history of libraries and bibliographic work with their peers.

The zonal badminton and volleyball competitions were held in Baku within the framework of the massive sporting events dedicated to the promotion of 14 kinds of sports, included in the program of the Baku 2015 First European Games, among schoolchildren.

About 100 schoolchildren (schoolboys and schoolgirls) between the ages of 7-17 from districts of Baku attended the badminton competition, held at sports hall of Baku Slavic University. The athletes demonstrated exemplary performances on different types of badminton during the opening phase of the event. According to the results of the competition, the teams of Yasamal, Khatai and Binagadi districts won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. Another sporting event took place at the sports hall of Azerbaijan State Economic University. The zonal volleyball competition was held among schoolchildren at the sports hall of Azerbaijan State Economic University. 12 teams from districts of Baku joined the fight for the title of winner. The teams of Sabail, Surakhani and Khazar districts won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. The representatives of the Ministry of Education and sports community attended the opening ceremony of the competitions. The winners were awarded with diplomas and medals of the Ministry of Education.

"Our entrepreneurial activity" - "The 10th National Competition Enactus Azerbaijan 2015", held with financial and organizational support of the Youth Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Education, Azerfon LLC and “AGBank” OJSC, was inaugurated.

First of all, the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. Then a video was shown about the essence of the Enactus program. Vusal Guliyev, head of the sector for work with youth organizations within the Presidential Administration's Socio-political Department, Yusuf Majidov, Enactus Global 's vice president for CIS countries, Sulhaddin Gozalov, head of Student Support Sector of the Ministry of Education, Shafag Bayramova, representative of the Youth Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilgar Musabalıyev, representative of “AGBank” OJSC, Naila Ismailova, head of the "New Life" Humanitarian and Social Support Public Union, Elbrus Isayev, Dean of the Faculty of Management at the University of Nakhchivan, Mehman Badalzade, graduate of the Enactus Azerbaijan program, and Kamala Mammadli, Country Director of "Enactus Azerbaijan", made a speech at the event. In their speeches, they spoke about  Enactus Azerbaijan`s activity, youth development in the field of business and entrepreneurship and emphasized the importance of program in terms of improving people's living standards, reaping additional revenue and increasing the activeness of the youth. As well as, congratulations were voiced on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Enactus Azerbaijan program. The semi-final and final stages of the competition were held at "Monolit Plaza" on May 31. The competition was attended by 9 teams of Azerbaijan - spokespeople of Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, Azerbaijan Technological University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Ganja State University, Nakhchivan State University, Nakhchivan University and Sumgait State University. Two teams, selected from each league, won the right to participate in the final round. The teams of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and Sumgait State University competed in the first league and the teams of Nakhchivan University and Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts competed in the second league. The team of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University was the winner of the competition and gained the right to represent our country at "Enactus World Cup 2015" to be held in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa on October 14-16, 2015. Nakhchivan State University was selected in "The best team spirit" category, Nakhchivan State University's "Guide" project was selected in "The best social project" category, Azerbaijan Technological University`s "Edial" project was selected in "The best ecological project" category and "Iron Wonder" project of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts was selected in "The best business project" category.

"SABAH Volunteer" conducted a campaign for children at the Seaside National Park on the occasion of June 1 - International Children's Day.

The campaign, organized with the support of the Office of the National Seaside Park, was held in order to demonstrate children`s support for the Baku 2015 First European Games and their creativity. Within the framework of the campaign entitled "The colors of SABAH", white board that can be painted and paints were placed in the special corner of the Seaside National Park by volunteers studying in SABAH groups of the Ministry of Education. The board and paints have attracted the attention of parents who come with their children. Parents and children were informed about the Baku 2015 First European Games by "SABAH Volunteer". Then the colorful paints were presented to children who want to participate in the campaign. After submission of paints, "European Games" logo was painted within 4 hours by more than 150 children. Every child, drawing a picture, has signalized his (her) name and age by putting the handprint on paintings. The gifts, reflecting the symbols of the European Games, were presented to children, participating in the campaign, by "SABAH Volunteer". SABAH groups have been organized from Educated, Skilled and Trained students studying at higher education institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic in order to improve the quality of education in higher education, to ensure personnel training in accordance with modern requirements and to create the new environment in the higher education system. Currently, SABAH groups cover 755 students in 34 specialties in 7 higher education institutions (Baku State University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and Azerbaijan University of Languages).
