The new program that will be implemented within the framework of “Museum and education programs” project of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO is dedicated to International Museum Day - May 18. The main objective of "Museum Week for schoolchildren - Museums and Ecology" program that will be carried out at the joint initiative of the Republican Ecological Training and Experience Center and the Republican Center for Tourism and Ethnography is to enlighten pupils about the history, ethnographic and cultural exposition of museums, operating in Baku. Gathering information about exhibits, artifacts, creative work related to the project topic, the special interactive methodical - educational routes will be determined and the museum programs will be organized. At the same time, schoolchildren will become familiar with the ecological and ethnographic aspects of the collection fund of the country's leading museums. Also, pupils will be informed about the concept of sustainable development of human, environment and society. It should be noted that every year the International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18. The year 2015 was declared the year of "Museums and sustainable development of society" by the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

The trophies, diplomas and valuable prizes were presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in individual and team scores between boys and girls on 4 age groups by the Ministry of Education. Teams of Sumgait city, Udjar district and Mingachevir city took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively. It should be noted that the first stage of the competition was conducted among the pilot secondary schools, taught chess as a subject, and there were established the combined teams consisting of winner-students of district (city). More than 3 thousand students from 494 pilot schools, taught chess as a subject, participated in the competitions. About 400 students competed for the title of champion in the final race.

The final round of chess tournament, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Employees, was attended by 70 teachers, who won district and city stages of the competition. According to the results of the final competition, organized on the Olympic system, Imran Kalbiyev, teacher at Chayrud village full secondary school of Lerik district won first place, Sultan Rzayev, teacher at Sadarak village full secondary school No.1 of Sadarak district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic won second place, Anar Bagishov, teacher at Jalilabad city full secondary school No.4 took third place. The winners and active participants were awarded with diplomas and cash prizes. It should be noted that this competition was organized in accordance with the joint decision of the Ministry of Education and the Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Employees about holding the chess tournament among teachers of general education institutions in order to promote chess, to spend leisure time effectively and to celebrate widely the 92nd birth anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The first stage of the competition was held in general education institutions until March 10 and the second stage of this competition was held in the cities and regions until April 10.

The zonal athletics, wrestling, karate, judo and basketball competitions were held respectively in Khachmaz, Shamkir, Shirvan, Gusar and Jalilabad from April 24 to 27. The teams from Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi districts and Sumgait city competed in the zonal athletics competition, held in Khachmaz Olympic Sports Complex. The teams from Khachmaz, Sumgait and Gusar took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively. The zonal wrestling competitions were continued in Shamkir Olympic Sports Complex. Wrestlers competed in 5 weight categories (freestyle: 26, 32, 38, 47, 59 kg., Greco-Roman wrestling: 23, 29, 35, 42, 53 kg.) in both styles during the zonal competitions. 178 wrestlers from 18 cities and districts of the republic joined the fight for the title of winner. The zonal karate competitions were held in Shirvan city. The competition, held in Shamkir Olympic Sports Complex, was attended by teams from Shirvan city, Sabirabad, Ujar, Beylagan, Khojavand, Agjabadi, Zardab and Lachin districts. More than 150 athletes competed in Shotokan and Goju-ryu styles of karate. The teams from Khojavand, Zardab and Lachin districts took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Shotokan style of karate. The teams from Shirvan city, Beylagan and Hajigabul districts took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Goju-ryu style of karate. The zonal judo competition was launched in Gusar Olympic Sports Complex. The competition was attended by 92 pupils from Khachmaz, Guba, Gusar, Shabran, Khizi districts and Sumgait city. The teams from Gusar district, Shabran district and Sumgait city took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. The zonal basketball competition, held in Jalilabad district, was attended by teams from 10 regions. According to the results of the competitions, held in a tense struggle, the teams from Jalilabad, Salyan and Lankaran districts took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively. The winners of the zonal competitions were awarded with diplomas and medals of the Ministry of Education. It should be noted that these competitions, organized within the framework of the agitation campaign, conducted on the eve of the first European Games, will continue until the end of May. More than 6 thousand students are expected to participate in competitions. The main objective of zonal competitions is to promote 14 kinds of sports, included in the program of the first European Games, among schoolchildren, to direct pupils to a healthy lifestyle and to increase the role of physical education and sports in the patriotic upbringing of the pupils.

The film provides detailed information on the significance and purpose of the contest, held in Baku on February 12-14, 2015. It should be noted that this year`s contest was attended by 195 pupils with 96 scientific projects. 27 of them are individual, 69 of them are collective projects. Within the framework of these events, the zonal karate, taekwondo, boxing competitions were respectively held in Baku, Guba and Bilasuvar. More than 300 athletes from Baku competed in Shotokan and Goju-ryu styles of karate in the zonal competition, held at Hovsan Olympic Sports Complex. The teams of Nasimi, Khatai and Sabail districts took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Shotokan style of karate. The teams of Nizami, Khatai and Garadagh districts took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in Goju-ryu style of karate. The zonal taekwondo competition was held in Guba district. The teams of Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Absheron districts and Sumgait city were represented in the competition, held at Guba Olympic Sports Complex. The teams consisting of boys and girls competed in 9 weight categories. The teams of Gusar, Guba districts and Sumgait city won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively among girls in team score. The teams of Guba district, Sumgait city and Gusar district won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively among boys in team score. The zonal boxing competitions were launched in Bilasuvar district. The zonal competition, held at Bilasuvar Olympic Sports Complex, was attended by the teams from Bilasuvar, Masalli, Lankaran, Astara, Jalilabad and Neftchala districts. In the competition the athletes competed in the weight category of 34-54 kg. The teams of Jalilabad, Neftchala and Bilasuvar districts won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in team score. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the French Republic Francois Hollande who is paying a working visit to the country have held a meeting. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed President of the French Republic Francois Hollande. The Presidents posed for official photos. During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations between the two countries. Dynamic development of relations was also emphasized. The sides noted that reciprocal visits of the Heads of States over the last years gave a push to further development of bilateral relations. The parties expressed interest in further expanding relations, saying there was great potential for this. The sides exchanged views on the current state of the negotiations over the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The main goal of the contest is to organize the leisure time of pupils and students of the first vocational and specialized secondary educational institutions, to identify talented young people, to improve culture of performance of youth, to instill love for music, poetry, dance in them, to develop work, carried out in order to study works of Azerbaijani composers, folk songs and national dances, to enhance the national-spiritual and aesthetic upbringing of the young generation. The jury composed of prominent cultural and art figures in each category was established in order to arrange the competition in an orderly way and at a high level. The competition was held in 2 phases. 74 pupils and students, taking 1st and 2nd places in each category in the zonal stage, participated in the Republic phase, held at Baku Social Pedagogical College. 21 people were awarded 1st place, 13 people were awarded 2nd place, 10 people were awarded 3d place and 7 people were awarded the title of an active participant in the contest. The awarding ceremony and the final concert of competition winners will be held at the Azerbaijan State Song Theatre on May 19. The first, second, and third place winners in each category and the active participants of the competition will be awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes by the Ministry of Education.
