Training within "Media and education dialogue" will be held

On September 16-17, 2021, the Ministry of Education and the Media Development Agency will hold an educational training for mass media representatives.   The main purpose of the training is to ensure that the journalists who write articles about education receive full information on education, strengthen effective cooperation with the media and deliver information on activities performed in the field of education to the general public through the mass media.   During the trainings, the heads of structural divisions of the Ministry of Education will make presentations and exchange views on the new academic year in different areas of education.

9 September- the International Day to Protect Education from Attack

In accordance with the Resolution 74/275 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, 9 September was declared the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.   During the 44-days war last year, Armenia deliberately targeted schools in gross violation of international humanitarian law, killing 10 and injuring 14 students and destroying 60 of our schools.   The Ministry of Education has started an international Twitter campaign under the hashtags #UniteToProtect #EducationUnderAttack #Azerbaijan.   The aim of the campaign is to emphasize Armenia's responsibility for war crimes committed against Azerbaijani schoolchildren. At the same time, it is important to highlight the importance of children’s right to education in a safe environment.

10 Azerbaijanis won educational scholarship program in Latvia

As a result of successful cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Latvia, ten citizens of Azerbaijan have got an opportunity to study at prestigious universities of Latvia in academic year 2021-2022. Azerbaijan is one of the top five out of 27 countries to receive this scholarship from the Latvian government:     No. The list of countries receiving the most scholarships The number of scholarship holders on different levels of education 1. Turkey 5   As a result of Latvian side’s decision on the choice, in accord with the agreement the citizens of Azerbaijan got the right to continue their education in various specialties and educational levels in ” Riga Technical University“,” University of Latvia “and” Riga Stradiņš University " of Latvia.     It should be mentioned that the relevant scholarship program was announced on 4 February 2021.

Possibility to receive a scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year in Russia

The Russian Federation (RF) announces an educational scholarship program at the expense of the federal budget of the Russian Federation for the academic year 2022-2023. There is no age limit for submission of applications for the scholarship program for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees. The program will be available in Russian. The deadline for submission of applications for the scholarship program is November 1, 2021. Detailed information can be obtained through the announcement.  

Training on inclusive education launched

The Ministry of Education, together with the Institute of Education and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), has launched training sessions on the project 'Expanding the Network of General Education Institutions with Inclusive Classrooms'.   The first training took place on 23-25 August 2021 in psycho-medical-pedagogical commissions of the cities and regions where inclusive education will be implemented. The 3-day training, attended by 37 commission members, discussed inclusive education, disability, the International Classification of Functionality of Children with Disabilities, including the rules for the organization of the educational process in inclusive classes.   The training sessions provided participants with information about the project and covered topics such as the responsibilities of the professionals who will be involved in the project, their role in the project and working with parents of children with disabilities.   In addition, 63 school staff took part in the 36-hour training on “Organization of training in inclusive class". The 6-day training held on 26-31 August 2021 discussed topics such as inclusiveness and the basics of inclusive education, medical and social approach to disability, child-oriented pedagogy, universal learning design, inclusive lesson planning.   This training, which included numerous interactive games also touched on topics such as basic classroom strategies, differentiation and assessment in inclusive classrooms, and emphasized that collaboration between teacher, parent, community, and other partners in implementing inclusive education is extremely important.

"Digital skills" - in the 2021/2022 academic year

In the 2021/2022 academic year, the “Digital Skills” project is planned to cover 16 cities and districts.    The project is expected to involve 190,000 pupils studying in 250 schools in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Shaki, Shirvan, Shamakhi, Lankaran, Bilasuvar, Mingachevir, Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Sabirabad, Salyan, Shamkir, Goychay, Shabran cities, and districts.    It is also not excluded that more than 1,500 teachers will teach in the project.   In addition, it is planned to increase the number of classes in existing schools in the new academic year, as well as to connect new schools in different cities and districts to the project.   It should be noted that, since the 2017-2018 academic year, the “Digital Skills” project has been launched in secondary schools in order to ensure that the students master ICT skills deeply, achieve their purposeful activity in the information space, and formulate them as individuals with a competitive and logical mindset.  

Media tour to the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovations

On August 13, a media tour was organized to the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovations.  The media tour was attended by members of the National Assembly, well-known members of the public and mass media. Within the framework of the media tour, the participants were informed about the innovations and general rules applied in the admission process to vocational education institutions for the next academic year. It was noted that the the enrollment of students for the 2021-2022 academic year is conducted for 21260 places in 66 vocational education institutions with 120 specialties and the enrollment plan has increased by 9.6% compared to last year. It was also emphasized that, for the first time since the current year, 7 vocational education institutions located in 5 regions will conduct training of high technical level of vocational education. It was noted that in the admission process to 15 specialties at the expense of the state 840 places were allocated. Then the participants of the media tour got acquainted with the workshops, the material and technical base of the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovations that meet modern standards, and the organization of the educational process in the Center. The participants of the media tour were also informed that over the past period students were trained in technical professions in 9 areas and high-technical professions in 2 areas in the Center, which trains competitive personnel based on international educational standards. And from the academic year 2021-2022, students will be able to receive training in various specialties of both technical and higher technical vocational education in 11 areas each. Within the framework of the media tour, a meeting was held with graduates who had graduated from vocational schools and had made a successful career in various fields. During the meeting, the guests' experiences were heard and opinions were exchanged about the current situation in vocational education and upcoming work. In conclusion, numerous questions of interest to the participants of the media tour were answered. It should be noted that the admission of students to vocational education institutions for the 2021-2022 academic year began on August 10. Those wishing to receive vocational education must register on the portal.edu.az on August 10-20 . The admission process is open to graduates of general or full secondary education.  

148 people gained the right to study in Hungary

Within the framework of the Intergovernmental Scholarship Programs (NTP) the selections for the Hungarian education scholarship program for the academic year 2021-2022 have been completed. As a result of cooperation in the field of education between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, 148 citizens of Azerbaijan got the right to study at the prestigious universities of Hungary in 2021-2022 academic year. The Hungarian side has decided to continue scholarships in the academic year 2021-2022 to 87 Azerbaijanis from the existing quota, who have had their terms of study extended as a result of the global pandemic. As a result of a final decision made by the Hungarian side on the selection, 17 people got the right to study at the PhD level (in any field of interest), 123 at the master's level and 8 at the bachelor's level under the aforesaid agreement. They will study economics, humanitarian and social sciences, business and management, engineering, Information Technologies (ITs), tourism, natural sciences and health sciences. The students who were awarded the scholarship got the right to study at such higher education institutions as “Budapest University of Technology and Economics”, “Corvinus University of Budapest”, “University of Szeged”, “Eötvös Loránd University”, “University of Debrecen”, “University of Pécs” and others.  It should be noted that the relevant scholarship program was announced on November 23, 2020.  

A group of Azerbaijani graduates of foreign universities made a trip to liberated Aghdam

A trip for Azerbaijani graduates of foreign universities to liberated (from Armenian occupation) Aghdam district has been organized on July 31.   Some 71 people took part in the trip. The trip was organized with the support of the Ministry of Education for a group of graduates who were trained in a number of prestigious universities in the world within the ‘State program for training Azerbaijani youth abroad for 2007-2015’ and ‘Intergovernmental scholarship programs’.   These are graduates of about 60 prestigious universities in 17 countries (the US, Germany, Australia, the UK, Belgium, Czech Republic, China, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Lithuania, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Turkey). Currently, they work in public and private organizations in Azerbaijan in leading and managerial positions.   The participants of the trip visited the Panakh Ali-Khan Palace, the Imarat stadium, the Juma Mosque and the Giyasli Mosque in Aghdam region, as well as the Aghdam State Drama Theater.   In front of the Azerbaijan State Drama Theatre, Azerbaijani graduates performed samples of national folklore such as “Sari gelin”, “Heyrati Azerbaijan”, “Rast fragment Niyazi”, as well as “Vivaldi-summer”. In addition, Azerbaijani graduates got acquainted themselves with Aghdam's General Plan during the visit.   In order to communicate to the international community, the significance of Karabakh for Azerbaijan and the historical and rich cultural heritage of the region, "Karabakh is Azerbaijan" - a special issue of the "Nargis" magazine devoted to Karabakh culture and history was presented to Azerbaijani graduates.   An artwork created by Gulshan Bakhshaliyeva, a student of the Sumgait Child and Youth Development Centre No 1, containing special elements of the 44-day Patriotic War, was presented to Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to be viewed by local and foreign nationals.   The impressions of Azerbaijani graduates of their visit to the liberated Azerbaijani lands and victory in the 44-Day Patriotic War were heard.   At the end of the visit, a memorial picture was taken.   It should be noted that during the 44-day Patriotic War, young people educated abroad at the expense of the state contributed to the provision of health services to our servicemen affected by the war, as well as to the delivery of the truthful voice of our country to the world community on social media accounts, public and diplomatic platforms.
