The concert of "National Dance" Circle operating in Child-Youth Creativity center of Nizami district of the Ministry of Education was held.

Circle members led by Lala Ibrahimova performed the national dances ("Gaval", "Tello", "Bulag bashi", "Meyvalar"), at the same time, the dances of the world's peoples ("Greek", "Holland", "Tajik", "Uzbek", "Kyrgyz", "Italian", "Kukaraca", "Lambada") at the "Friendship Wreath" concert held at the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Russian Drama named after Samad Vurgun. The composition entitled "The dance of friendship of peoples" was demonstrated by children and was met with great interest among the participants of the event. The joyful songs sung by the vocal group of the Center, the performances of children's theater "Chicheyim" and the Children's Fashion Show attracted the attention of the participants. The concert ended with "Holiday" dance.

The presentation of the Baku-2015 First European Games was held in University College London of Great Britain.

The presentation was organized by Nijat Bakhshaliyev studying at University College London within the framework of the State Program on Education Abroad. The event was attended by our fellow countrymen and students from Great Britain, France and Italy. Prior to the presentation, the European Games posters were placed in College. During the presentation, the participants were informed about the Baku 2015 First European Games considered one of the most significant events in Europe. It was noted that more than 6200 athletes from 50 European countries would compete for medals in the First European Games to be held in Baku. It was also reported that 253 competitions would be held in a total of 20 sports, including 16 Olympic sports and 4 non-Olympic sports during the Games and this information was met with great interest by the participants. During the presentation, the photographs about sports arena that will host the Games and the video clip made on the European Games were brought to the attention of the participants.

The student of Music College under the Azerbaijan National Conservatory has excelled in the international competition held in Turkey from June 3 to 6.

Eldaniz Alakbarzada, third-year student acquiring an education on "Piano" specialty at Music College, was awarded 1st place in the International Competition of Young Pianists held in Izmir by Music Academy named after Mozart. The young performer was awarded with the gold medal of the competition.

On June 9, the ceremony for awarding certificates to 205 people, who had successfully completed the hotel management courses, was held in Baku vocational Lyceum No. 5 of the Ministry of Education.

The event was attended by Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, Mark Harald Ehler, Managing Director of "Absheron Hotel Group" LLC, as well as the heads of educational institutions and entrepreneurs taking part in the service sector. Speaking at the ceremony, Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, noted that the development of vocational education is one of the priority fields. Mikayil Jabbarov mentioned that the State Strategy for the Development of Education intends to develop the vocational education and involve entrepreneurs, employers in this field and the Ministry of Education is consistently working on this issue. The Minister also reminded that the Baku 2015 First European Games will take place in Azerbaijan in the next few days. It will lead to the arrival of thousands of athletes and visitors to our country and increasing the prestige of Azerbaijan as a tourist zone. As a result, there is a need for training of personnel which meets international standards and increasing the level of professionalism of existing staff in the service sector. Mark Harald Ehler, Managing Director of "Absheron Hotel Group" LLC, mentioned that according to the agreement reached with the Ministry of Education, it was planned to hold trainings in line with international standards by experts for 430 pupils in Baku vocational Lyceum No. 5. Initially, 220 people participated in the trainings. It was noted in the event that the purpose of these trainings being held for the first time on vocational education is to create personnel resources for the newly opened five-star hotels - "Boulevard Hotel" and "Intourist Hotel" in Baku on the eve of the first European Games. The participants of the trainings will have the opportunity to be employed in hotels opened on the eve of the European Games and in the restaurant chain included in "Absheron Hotel Group" LLC. After the speeches, certificates were presented to persons who have completed the course.

School-lyceum No. 20 operating in Baku is one of the largest educational institutions of our country.

2830 pupils are studying in 111 classes of this academic institution. In previous years, the school-lyceum had about 3200 pupils. 289 teachers work at the school, 5 of them are honored teachers, 5 of them have been named “Teacher of the Year” and 3 of them are Candidates of Sciences. A number of innovation-oriented projects have been implemented in school-lyceum No. 20 as e-Education institution. Currently, this school has been temporarily placed at the other two schools of the capital. Due to the school-lyceum is located in the most densely populated place of Baku, it was planned to build the newly constructed building of educational institution in accordance with modern requirements. The new school building, designed for 3000 pupils and with total area of 25,000 square meters, will be put into operation for the academic year 2016-2017. The draft design and other relevant documents of school-lyceum were approved by the Executive Power of Baku City.   The photos are reflecting the appearances of the newly constructed building of school No. 20 on the project.

The winners of the Fourth Republican Competition, held under the motto “Let's protect the forests!” among young foresters by the Center for ecological education and practice, were awarded.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and higher education institutions, as well as experts. It was noted that the main goal of the competition is to stimulate the formation of careful attitude towards the environment and ecological worldview of children and youth by increasing their knowledge in the field of afforestation and to teach them special skills and abilities in the field of protection, restoration and sustainable use of forests. It was informed at the ceremony that the competition, attended by V-XI grade students of secondary schools and members of "Young forester" groups of the ecological education and practice centers, was held in 3 categories. 70 ecological projects have been submitted to the final stage of the competition. The results of ecological investigations on the importance of forests, their fauna and flora, the protection of rare plant and animal species, natural monuments and studying anthropogenic impacts on the ecological condition of forests and the ways of solving ecological problems were reflected in the projects by schoolchildren. In the Republican stage of the competition, the projects prepared by schoolchildren from Ismayilli, Gakh, Shamakhi, Balakan, Sheki, Guba, Gusar, Goranboy, Lankaran, Jalilabad, Tovuz were highly appreciated by a jury and were awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd and stimulating places. The winners were awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of Education and valuable prizes.

Within the framework of the schoolchildren`s awards program of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Huseyn Hajiyev, sixth grade student of Baku European Lyceum, was awarded with the prize for his achievements in the field of information technology.

Huseyn Hajiyev, successfully passed the interview organized by "Microsoft Azerbaijan" company in 2013, was awarded the Certificate "The most young and active Windows Expert" in the 19th International Telecommunication and Information Technologies Exhibition - BakuTel-2013. He was able to win the level “Advanced Master” of «ICT Masters Organization» of Baku European Lyceum. H.Hajiyev received a certificate for taking part in the webinar entitled "Digital Learning Weeks in Baku European Lyceum" within the framework of the UNESCO LFF project implemented by Baku European Lyceum in 2014 with the participation of 5 countries. As well as, he became the winner of several projects by taking an active part in the UNESCO project Global Lab. He demonstrated the best results and was awarded with the Diploma in the "Beaver 2014" International competition for schoolchildren on Informatics and Computer Knowledge. H.Hajiyev, preparing the application program for Lyceum teachers for the assessment of students on the points system, is working on a scientific project entitled "The role of programming in education". He is enthusiastically engaged in graphic arts, music and dance. It should be noted that Azerbaijani student will be awarded with the prize of World Intellectual Property Organization in August this year.

By Order of the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Republic dated June 8, 2015, the name of 50 schools located in Baku, Ganja, Sumgait, Mingechevir and Shirvan cities was included in the list of educational institutions where teaching will be organized on subject-orientations in grades 10-11 since the 2015-2016 academic year and the teaching plans were approved on 4 subject-oriented directions (technical, mathematical-economic, humanitarian, natural).

The number of subjects to be taught was reduced to 9 in technical subjects oriented classes, to 8 in mathematical-economic and humanitarian subjects oriented classes, to 10 in natural sciences oriented classes. Regardless of the subject-oriented directions, Azerbaijani language (Russian language in the Russian sector), foreign language, literature, mathematics, Azerbaijani history, physical education, pre-conscription military training of youth subjects are maintained in curriculum. Subject-oriented classes will be complemented with the condition that the number of students must be at least 20 people in accordance with the existing rules. The Order of the Ministry intends to implement extensive awareness-raising activities in places related to the orientation, to take organizational measures for the acquisition of subject-oriented classes and to organize trainings for teachers who teach subject-oriented lessons. It should be noted that a pilot project for secondary education orientation began to be applied a few years ago in 5 schools operating in Baku. The special teaching plans were approved and the expanded programs of subject-oriented lessons were prepared for these schools by reducing the number of subjects from 18 to 13. In the following years, 3 more institutions have been included in the list of pilot schools. The main objective of the implementation of pilot project is to test the organization of education according to the orientations at full secondary education level, to carry out the relevant preparatory work in connection with a massive transition to this process in the future and to shape public opinion in the society about it. Analysis of the results of the project show that due to the application of the subject-orientation is organized in accordance with the inclinations and wishes of students at full secondary education level, their interest in training has significantly increased and it has had a positive impact on educational achievements of pupils. Subject-orientation is used in most countries of the world. Subject-orientation is among the main factors that positively affect student achievement in Singapore, South Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Estonia and other countries, achieved success in international assessment studies. For example, in Singapore, the distribution of students to different orientations is held after sixth grade and students are given the opportunity to choose educational programs in different directions. In the Netherlands, subject-orientation has been intensively applied since the 70s. In Great Britain, a small number of subjects is taught to learners in the upper grades as a result of subject-orientation. The expectations on implementation of subject-orientation in the country are as follows: Students` inclinations and interests will be taken into account in the organization of the educational process; Students will acquire in-depth knowledge on the subjects taught to them; Students' motivation to learn will increase; Students determined their professional directions for the higher education level will demonstrate a higher level of training; Students` need for additional teachers will be reduced. All of these factors will lead to increasing the quality of education and the formation of highly qualified human capital.

Students of Baku European Lyceum attended the 12th International Russian Language Olympiad held in Moscow among schoolchildren.

The Olympiad, organized by the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, was attended by Nazrin Kazimzade, Narmin Aydarova, Narmin Bayramova and Fidan Mirzayeva, 10th grade students of the lyceum. Azerbaijani students passed the exam in the Russian language and statehood subjects. They also took part in the Russian essay and "Melo-recitation" and "Young orator" contests. In the artistic part of the Olympiad, students of the lyceum performed national dances for the guests. In the closing ceremony of the Olympiad, Narmin Aydarova and Fidan Mirzayeva were awarded with the Diploma and Khumar Ahmadbayli, head of the delegation, lyceum teacher, was awarded with the certificate of acknowledgement.

On June 10, the Ministry of Education held a working meeting with the participation of Vice-rectors for international relations and Deans on work with foreign students of higher education institutions.

The purpose of the meeting consisted of the presentation of the "Rules of study of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan in foreign countries and foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan" approved by Resolution No. 125 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic dated May 1, 2015 and the discussion of possible questions. During the meeting, the explanation on new rules was given to responsible persons, the questions were answered and an exchange of views was held in the direction of improving the educational opportunities in Azerbaijan for foreign students.
