President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed conditions created at the secondary school No 101 in Surakhani district, Baku, after major repair and reconstruction. Head of Baku City Executive Authority Eldar Azizov and principal of the school Saida Mammadova informed the head of state of the work carried out here. The building of the secondary school was constructed in 1937. The school enrolls 985 pupils who are served by 62 teachers. The school has 35 classrooms, a computer room, lab, gym, auditorium, military room and a canteen. The classrooms are supplied with all necessary teaching aids. The Republican Conference of Education Workers has started in Baku. Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov, deputies, rectors of universities, heads of district (city) departments of education, directors of educational institutions, teachers, as well as experts in the field of education attend the event held at Bilgah Beach Hotel. Before the conference, the participants laid a wreath at the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev, honored the memory of the famous ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Later, the participants of the conference visited the Alley of Martyrs and laid a wreath before the Eternal Torch monument to honor the heroic sons of Azerbaijan who died in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The second round of applying for vocational education institutions for the 2019-2020 academic year is to continue. More than 4,125 candidates applied up today. The candidates who have not participated in the first round may also apply for the second stage. All documents could be submitted online in “ASAN xidmet” Centers, and also at the vocational institutions of the regions. The application process is free. The application process will continue until September 5. The final results are expected to be announced by September 6.

The submission of the applications for preschool preparatory groups has started on 26th August 2019. Online registration will be implemented through the following website https://mektebeqebul.edu.az/az/ . The registration will continue until 25th September 2019. The preschool preparatory groups could enroll only those children who are already 5 years old (who was born in 2014) and have a local registration in the same area with the educational institution. The enrolled applicants have to submit the required documents manually to the schools that enrolled them from 2nd September to 27th September 2019. All the questions regarding the online registration could be addressed to Alternative Registration Centers operates in the cities and districts, Appeals Commissions, or by making phone calls to local educational authorities, and to the Call Center of the Ministry of Education (hotline, 146-1).

The 114 candidates, from Jalilabad, Guba, Shamakhi, Lankaran, and Imishli regions, who have got an appropriate passing score, are expected to be interviewed. “Azerbaijan has done a fantastic job in organizing the first successful International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)," IOI President, Professor of National Taiwan Normal University Greg Lee has told AZERTAC in an exclusive interview at the Baku Convention Centre. IOI President Greg Lee said that from the very first day they arrived at the airport the people greeting them were very hospitable and welcoming. He described the Olympiad as a unique platform for promoting informatics and bringing the best among the young people. He noted that the primary goal of IOI was promoting informatics, adding "to do that we have this competition which brings together the best students from each country". “This year’s Olympiad brings together more than 600 pupils, teachers and experts from 88 countries and regions. This is a big stage for them to meet the people who also think just like themselves, they think about algorithm and love to do problem solving. So this is a time to make friends,” President Greg Lee said. “The successful contestants of the Olympiads, whether they score medals or not, they are working in very big companies all over the world like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and others. And some of them come back to become leaders and to help out with the activities of IOI. A few of them are in the communities right now. Azerbaijan teams representing the country 24 times in this prestigious international competition have won 5 medals, including one silver and four bronze. One of the most prestigious competitions held since 1989, the International Olympiad in Informatics is an annual chance to demonstrate the knowledge and skill of schoolchildren from many countries around the world. As part of the programme excursions will be organized to Gobustan, Yanardagh, Ateshgah, the House Museum of Nobel Brothers and some other places. For the organization of the event at a high level, places were selected that meet modern requirements; thus, the main contest will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena, while the opening ceremony will be hosted at the Baku Convention Center and the closing ceremony - at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Boulevard Hotel is foreseen to hold other events within the framework of the Olympiad. Students will be accommodated in the Athletes Village during the competition. There will be an entertainment zone for the contestants and they will be able to effectively spend their time off outside through various events and exciting leisure programmes.
