SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
On December 4, Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, Met Members of Caspian-Europe Integration Business Club.
Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Education, greeted the participants at first, expressed his gratitude to be invited to the event. The Minister expressed his assurance that such meetings and gatherings will make new contributions to the development of efficient cooperation between state and private business entities and the Ministry of Education.
The Minister noted all valuable offers were emerged during open discussions: “I’d like to talk to you both as a business-like person, active citizen and parent, discuss and value the role of education in our children’s and young’s life”.
Noting the provision of competitiveness of our country in the world market and nation’s welfare, the Minister stated its dependence on provision of qualitative education environment for learners. From this standpoint, the development of social cooperation with business world is of special attention of the Ministry of Education.
World practice regarding definition of advanced economic development conception stimulates to say that cooperation between education sphere and business world provides the overall long term development. Establishment of knowledge-based economics in the economically successful countries embraces the priority directions of the social – economic policy.
Emphasizing that results of educational reforms are not immediately emerged, the Minister stated the reforms should be possibly intensified provided the education process sustainability and continuity. Stressing development of human resources is of special attention in Azerbaijan due to continuous development of the country, the Minister of Education told the main strategic goal was the transformation from oil capital to human capital in accordance with the conception offered by the state leader. However it’s impossible to carry out this action without achieving new level of educational system, improvement of its quality and effectiveness.
The Minister noted the educational sphere was of special attention at government level in Azerbaijan. The “State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved on October 24, 2013 by the President’s Decree, clearly demonstrates the given attention. The State Strategy defines the main challenges of our education, describes the ways for developing the institutional bases, infrastructure and human resources of the educational system/. Enlisting the directions covered by the State Strategy, the Minister emphasized that this document paved the way to the reforms for many important goals.
The Minister noted that the strategic goals included: preparation of standards and curricula based on efficient education model of children’s development in early ages, preparation of education standards and new curricula providing pre-school children’s physical and mental development, socializing, creativity abilities, tanning vital knowledge and skills, codes of conduct, provision of relevant services (course or training means etc.) for children in pre-schools and general education facilities as well. Besides, the Minister of Education noted raising the level of provision of children in early ages with pre-school education up to 90 percent: “One point should also be considered that we clearly see development perspective of pre-school education as an important ring of education stages. Today’s education platform shows that because the basic skills are attained in the early ages, it’s important to improve children’s intellect since early ages. For this reason development of pre-school education is of special attention in the state policy”.
Touching school – parent relationships, the Ministry told: “Firstly, I’d like to mention significant roles of family and parents in formation of each individual. Parents should share the responsibility for children’s qualitative education; clearly value the duties of school. Parents’ roles in the school environment, management process of educational centers.”
Stating the significant responsibilities of business entities for profession choice of pupils, the Minister of Education expressed his opinions on importance of organizations of trips to excursions and other interesting projects. It’s not right to see successful outcomes of educational reforms only as government obligation. This is obligation of all society, especially business entities.
At the end, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the participants, stressed the necessity of joint works to provide happy future of the country considering responsible and long-term process of educational reforms.
The Minister responded to the questions of the participants’ interests afterwards, wide range exchange of views was conducted on the future collaboration between the Ministry of Education and business environment.
