SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
The 8th World School Chess Championship took place in Iasi, Romania, from 27 April to 7 May 2012.
The chess championship was held on the Swiss system in 6 age groups. 653 pupils from 36 countries took part in the championship, including 284 boys and 369 girls. Azerbaijan was represented by a team of Ministry of Education consisting of 24 chess players.
Representative of Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve No. 1 of Baku and school No.6 named after T. Ismayilov Gunay Mammadzade has won a gold, representative of Republican Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve, pupil of school No. 212 of Baku Narmin Mammadova, representative of Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve No. 2, pupil of school No. 7 of Baku, Ismayil Shahaliyev and representative of Junior Chess School of Ucar, pupil of school No. 4 Khatun Bagirova have won a silver medals. Representative of the Republican Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve, pupil of school No.136 of Baku Aytan Amrayeva and representative of Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve No. 1 of Baku, pupil of school No.13 Narmin Soyunlu were awarded the bronze medals.
Moreover, representatives of Specialized Junior Chess School of Olympic Reserve No. 1 of Baku Umid Aslanov (5th place), Elkhan Bayramov (7) and Abdulla Gadimbeyli (10) were awarded diplomas in the chess championship.
